Officer Appointed as OSD to Minister of Rural Development on Co-Terminus Basis
In a recent administrative development, the Department of Land Resources under the Ministry of Rural Development has issued an order approving the appointment of an officer as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Minister.
According to the official communication, the appointment will be on a co-terminus basis with the tenure of the Minister. This means the officer will continue in the assigned role only until the Minister remains in office or until he ceases to function as OSD to the Minister, or until further orders are issued by the competent authority — whichever of these events occurs earlier.
The order, issued from New Delhi under the authority of Mr Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Land Resources, aligns with the standard procedure for co-terminus appointments, which are typically linked directly to the tenure and portfolio of the concerned Minister.
Such appointments are aimed at providing dedicated administrative and policy support to the Minister, ensuring smooth coordination, effective policy monitoring, and timely execution of ministerial directives. The OSD role is considered a crucial liaison position, facilitating communication between the Minister’s office, departmental units, and other government agencies.
