Cabinet Secretariat Upgrades Post of Mr Parthasarathy Bhaskar Devarakonda to Director, Re-designation Approved Till June 2027

In a key administrative move, the Government of India has granted formal approval for the upgradation of a senior position within the Cabinet Secretariat, resulting in the elevation of a serving Indian Revenue Service officer.

According to the official order issued by the competent authority, the post of Deputy Secretary currently held by Mr Parthasarathy Bhaskar Devarakonda, IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes: 2012 batch), has been re-designated as Director, Cabinet Secretariat. This change has been sanctioned as a personal upgradation, applicable exclusively to the officer concerned.

The revised designation will become operational from 1 January 2026 or from the actual date on which Mr Devarakonda formally takes charge of the re-designated Director post, whichever is later.

The approved tenure for holding the upgraded post has been fixed up to 22 June 2027, thereby completing the maximum permissible central deputation period of five years under the Central Staffing Scheme.

Official records further indicate that Mr Parthasarathy Bhaskar Devarakonda has been on central deputation since 23 June 2022, and this re-designation marks a progression within the same deputation framework.

The decision underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure that critical departments like the Cabinet Secretariat are staffed with experienced officers capable of handling sensitive policy coordination and administrative responsibilities.
