1991-batch IAS officer G Sai Prasad assumes charge as Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary, bringing decades of administrative and power sector experience.
Senior IAS officer G Sai Prasad officially took over as the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday at 11:33 AM at the State Secretariat. Known for his people-first approach, Sai Prasad steps into the state’s top bureaucratic role with a reputation for humility and dedication to public service.
Currently serving as Special Chief Secretary in the Water Resources and Revenue Departments, he also holds the position of ex-officio Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister. Admired for his soft-spoken nature and grounded personality, Sai Prasad believes that governance should primarily benefit the poor and the common citizen. His guiding principle: “Rules are meant to help the poor.”
The state government had announced his appointment in November last year, granting a three-month extension to outgoing Chief Secretary K Vijayanand. With Vijayanand’s tenure ending this Saturday, Sai Prasad now officially takes charge.
A Career Rooted in Field Administration
Hailing from Prakasam district and the son of a school teacher, Sai Prasad began his career as Assistant Collector in Warangal in 1992, when Andhra Pradesh was undivided. His field postings include:
