Bihar IAS Reshuffle: Govt Transfers Top Officials, Cites Efficiency & Election Readiness
In a major administrative reshuffle, the Bihar government has transferred six senior IAS officers in a move that is seen as part of preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. The transfers were announced by the General Administration Department on Wednesday and mark a realignment of important administrative positions.
Narmadeshwar Lal to Head Sugarcane Industry Department
Senior IAS officer Narmadeshwar Lal (1988 batch), who was earlier serving as the Principal Secretary in the Minor Water Resources Department, has now been appointed as the Principal Secretary of the Sugarcane Industry Department. Along with this new responsibility, he has also been given the additional charge of Investigation Commissioner in the General Administration Department.
B. Karthikeya Dhanji Gets Multiple Important Roles
Another key appointment is that of B. Karthikeya Dhanji (2008 batch). He has been moved out of the Sugarcane Industry Department and made the Secretary of the Minor Water Resources Department. Besides this, he has been assigned the roles of Investigation Commissioner in the General Administration Department and Secretary of the Industries Department, giving him multiple crucial responsibilities.

The reshuffle also includes several other officers:
Chiring Y. Bhutia (2013 batch): Appointed as Additional Secretary in the Health Department.
Yashpal Meena (2014 batch): Appointed as Additional Secretary in the Health Department, with additional charge as Director of the Handloom and Silk Directorate.
Rajneesh Kumar Singh: Appointed as Registrar, Cooperative Societies, and also given the additional responsibility of Additional Director, Bihar Development Mission.
Anshul Agarwal: Appointed as the Inspector General of Registration-cum-Excise Commissioner under the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department.
Administrative Overhaul Before Elections
This reshuffle comes at a time when political activity in Bihar is gaining momentum with the approaching Assembly Elections in 2025.
