Government Approves Premature Repatriation of Mamta Varma, IlnfoS, from Ministry of Panchayati Raj with Extended Cooling-Off Clause
The Government of India has formally granted approval for the early repatriation of Ms. Mamta Varma, Indian Information Service (IInFoS), 1994 batch, who is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, back to her parent cadre.
The decision has been taken by the Competent Authority on the recommendation of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and permits Ms. Varma to return to her cadre on personal grounds, prior to the completion of her approved central deputation tenure.
Along with the approval for premature repatriation, the government has also imposed an extended ‘cooling-off’ condition, under which Ms. Varma will be required to observe a specified waiting period before becoming eligible for any future central deputation or equivalent central assignments, as prescribed under the prevailing deputation norms.
The move has been executed strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Central Staffing Scheme and related deputation guidelines administered by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
Ms. Varma’s repatriation marks the conclusion of her tenure as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, where she had been overseeing key policy, communication, and governance-related initiatives pertaining to rural local self-government institutions across the country.
