Punjab Clears Four Senior IAS Officers for Central Deputation; Tejveer Singh, Dalip Kumar and Cibin C Among Those Awaiting Union Government Posting Orders
The Punjab government has granted formal clearance to four senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers of the Punjab cadre, paving the way for their deputation to key assignments under the Central government. With the state-level approval now in place, the officers are awaiting final posting orders from the Union government before assuming their new responsibilities in New Delhi.
According to official sources, the clearance has been accorded after completing the required administrative processes at the state level. Once the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) issues formal orders, the officers will be relieved from their present roles and inducted into central ministries, departments, or attached offices, depending on the Centre’s requirements.
Officers Approved for Central Deputation
The four Punjab cadre officers who have received state clearance for central posting are:
Tejveer Singh, IAS (1994 batch)
Dalip Kumar, IAS (1995 batch)
Varun Roojam, IAS (2004 batch)
Cibin C, IAS (2005 batch)
These officers bring with them extensive administrative experience across diverse sectors, and their induction is expected to enhance the Punjab cadre’s presence and influence within the Union administration.
Punjab Cadre Presence at the Centre
At present, around 20 IAS officers from the Punjab cadre are serving in various capacities at the Central government level. With the addition of these four officers, the number of Punjab cadre officials on central deputation is set to rise further, strengthening the state’s representation in national policymaking and administration.
IAS officers from Punjab are currently engaged across multiple Union ministries and statutory bodies, contributing to policy design, programme implementation, and intergovernmental coordination at the national level.
Importance of Central Deputation
Central deputation is widely regarded as a significant milestone in an IAS officer’s career. Assignments at the Centre offer exposure to national-level governance, large-scale policy formulation, and inter-ministerial coordination. Such postings also allow officers to gain experience beyond state boundaries, which is considered valuable for leadership roles at senior levels.
From an administrative perspective, the movement of officers between states and the Centre ensures an effective balance of manpower and expertise, while promoting a unified administrative outlook across the country. With state clearance already in place, the four Punjab cadre officers are now expected to take charge of their central assignments as soon as the Union government issues the final posting notifications.
