Punjab IPS Reshuffle: 6 Senior Officers Transferred; Dr Sharad Satya Chauhan Appointed Vigilance Chief, P.K. Sinha to Lead Law & Order

In a significant top-level administrative reshuffle, the Punjab government has transferred and reassigned six senior IPS officers with immediate effect. Dr Sharad Satya Chauhan Appointed Vigilance Chief

The most prominent change is the appointment of Sharad Satya Chauhan (1992 batch) as Special DGP-cum-Chief Director of the Vigilance Bureau, Punjab.

He replaces Praveen Kumar Sinha, who has been heading the anti-corruption wing. Chauhan was earlier serving as Managing Director of the Punjab Police Housing Corporation.

His appointment comes at a time when vigilance and anti-corruption measures remain a top priority for the Punjab administration.

P.K. Sinha to Head Law & Order Wing

Praveen Kumar Sinha (1994 batch) has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for Law & Order in Punjab, based in Chandigarh, until April 30, 2026.

He is scheduled to formally take over as Special DGP, Law & Order from May 1, 2026, following the retirement of Arpit Shukla.

This planned transition indicates continuity in one of the most sensitive and crucial policing assignments in the state.

Ram Singh Gets Expanded Role in Security Setup

Ram Singh (1994 batch), currently serving as Special DGP, Technical Support Services, has been given additional charge as:

Special DGP-cum-Commandant General, Punjab Home Guards
Director, Civil Defence, Punjab

This expanded role places him at the helm of both technical policing infrastructure and auxiliary security forces.

Arun Pal Singh Moves to Police Housing Corporation

Arun Pal Singh (1997 batch), who was serving as ADGP (Jails), has been appointed as Managing Director of the Punjab Police Housing Corporation.

He replaces Sharad Satya Chauhan and will now oversee police infrastructure development, housing projects, and modernization initiatives.

R.K. Jaiswal Gets Additional Charge of Jails

R K Jaiswal (1997 batch), currently ADGP (NRI), will continue in his existing role while also taking on additional charge as ADGP (Jails), Punjab.

He replaces Arun Pal Singh in the prisons department, thereby expanding his responsibilities across both NRI affairs and jail administration.

Gurmeet Singh Chauhan Placed at Disposal of DGP

Gurmeet Singh Chauhan (SPS 2011), who was serving as DIG in the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), has been placed at the disposal of the Director General of Police, Punjab.

His next posting is expected to be announced separately, indicating a possible strategic redeployment.
