IAS Officer Alagu Varsini V S Re-Designated as Director in Department of Rural Development Under Central Staffing Scheme
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has formally approved the re-designation of the post of Deputy Secretary to the rank of Director in the Department of Rural Development, a move that directly benefits Ms. Alagu Varsini V. S., IAS (Telangana Cadre: 2012), who is presently serving in the department on Central deputation.
The approval has been granted following a formal proposal submitted by the Department of Rural Development, as conveyed through its Office Memorandum No. A-19013/5/2025-Est-I dated 26 December 2025.
Under the newly sanctioned arrangement, the post currently held by Ms. Alagu Varsini V. S. has been upgraded and re-designated to the Director level as a personal measure in her favour. The re-designation shall take effect from the date on which she formally assumes charge of the upgraded post and shall remain valid up to 3 September 2030, representing the full admissible five-year tenure permitted under the Central Staffing Scheme, or until further government orders are issued, whichever occurs earlier.
The order also clarifies that Ms. Alagu Varsini V. S.’s Central deputation tenure commenced on 4 September 2025, and the upgraded Director-level designation will be counted within this approved deputation period.
This elevation reflects the Government of India’s continued emphasis on recognizing administrative capability and strengthening leadership capacity within key rural development institutions.
