The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially issued the notification for the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Preliminary Examination 2026. Aspirants seeking a career in the prestigious Indian Forest Service can now submit their applications online via the official portal upsconline.nic.in. The deadline for submission is February 24, 2026, and candidates are strongly advised to complete the process well before the closing date to avoid last-minute technical difficulties.

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC IFS 2026

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the examination:

Educational Qualification: A bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or institution in India.

Age Limit: Candidates must be between 21 and 32 years of age as of August 1, 2026. Age relaxations are applicable for reserved categories in accordance with government rules.

The UPSC aims to recruit approximately 180 officers through the IFS 2026 examination. The tentative distribution of vacancies is as follows:
