Government Clears Early Repatriation of IFoS Officer Dheeraj Mittal to Parent Cadre on Personal Grounds
The Government of India has approved the early repatriation of Mr Dheeraj Mittal, an Indian Forest Service officer of the 2012 Gujarat cadre, who has been serving as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Food and Public Distribution. This decision follows a formal proposal submitted by the department through its Office Memorandum dated 17 November 2025.
According to the communication issued by the Establishment Officer’s Division, the competent authority has agreed to the request for premature repatriation based on personal grounds. The approval includes the condition of an “extended cooling-off period,” which will apply once the officer returns to his parent cadre. Following this directive, Mr Mittal is required to be relieved from his current responsibilities without delay and instructed to report back to his cadre in Gujarat.
The order has been signed by Annies Kanmani Joy, Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, who has circulated the communication to the concerned offices for necessary action. Copies of the order have also been sent to the Cabinet Secretariat—specifically to Joint Secretary Ms. Kavita Singh—along with the offices of the Minister of State (Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions), the Secretary (Personnel), and senior officials in the Establishment Officer and Cadre Management divisions.
This formal directive, dated 20 November 2025, ensures that all administrative steps for Mr Mittal’s transition are carried out promptly and in accordance with established procedures.
