Shashvat Kumar, a 2016-batch IPS officer of the Tripura cadre, has been appointed as Commandant (equivalent to SP rank) in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). His posting has been approved on a deputation basis, as per an official order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on June 25, 2025.
About Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)
The Sashastra Seema Bal is one of India’s premier Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), primarily tasked with guarding India’s international borders with Nepal and Bhutan. Apart from border security, the SSB also plays a crucial role in internal security, counter-insurgency operations, and disaster response efforts.
Mr. Kumar’s appointment is expected to further strengthen the operational leadership of the force, especially in strategically sensitive regions.
