Tamil Nadu Govt Transfers 21 IAS Officers; J. Kumaragurubaran Appointed Secretary, Commercial Taxes Department
The Government of Tamil Nadu on Friday carried out a major bureaucratic reshuffle involving 21 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, assigning new responsibilities across several crucial departments, district administrations and state corporations as part of a large-scale administrative restructuring exercise.
The transfer orders, issued shortly after the formation of the new state government led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, are being viewed as an attempt to streamline governance, strengthen departmental coordination and accelerate implementation of key development and infrastructure projects across Tamil Nadu.
In a parallel political appointment, former Agriculture Minister Ku. Pa. Krishnan has been appointed Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB).
Ku. Pa. Krishnan had earlier served as Agriculture Minister in the cabinet of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa between 1991 and 1996. After leaving the AIADMK in previous years, he floated his own political outfit “Tamilar Bhoomi” before later rejoining mainstream politics. Earlier this year, he joined Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and unsuccessfully contested the Lalgudi Assembly constituency in the recent elections.
Major IAS Transfers Across Key Departments
Among the most significant bureaucratic changes, senior IAS officer J. Kumaragurubaran, who was serving as Commissioner of the Greater Chennai Corporation, has been appointed Secretary of the Commercial Taxes, Registration and Religious Endowments Department.
Senior IAS officer Sandhya Venugopal Sharma has been transferred from the post of Additional Chief Secretary and Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation to Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department.
IAS officer S. Swarna has been redesignated as Principal Secretary, Tourism, Culture and Special Initiatives Department.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Nanduri, who was serving as Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, has now been appointed Special Secretary in the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department.
Revenue, Labour and Planning Departments Reorganised
The reshuffle also introduced important changes in revenue administration and planning departments.
IAS officer G. Prakash has been appointed Principal Secretary and Additional Commissioner of Revenue Administration at the Commissionerate of Revenue Administration and Disaster Management.
V. Shobana has been posted as Commissioner of Textiles, while Shilpa Prabhakar Satish has been transferred as Commissioner of Labour.
Senior officer Kiran Gurrala has been appointed Commissioner of Town and Country Planning.
Fisheries, Welfare and Transport Departments Get New Officers
In another key posting, IAS officer K. Vijayakarthikeyan has been appointed Director of Fisheries and will additionally hold charge as Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation.
IAS officer Mageswari Ravikumar has been posted as Director of Social Welfare, while K. Senthil Raj has been appointed Director of Adi Dravidar Welfare.
D. Baskara Pandian has been given charge as Director of Transport and Road Safety.
New Appointments in Environment, Health and Industries
The Tamil Nadu government has also made several appointments in environment, industries and public sector undertakings.
IAS officer Asha Ajith has been appointed Director of Environment and Climate Change.
D. Karthikeyan has been posted as Chairman and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, while T. G. Vinay has been transferred as Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation.
IAS officer Aneesh Sekhar has been appointed Mission Director of the National Health Mission, and S. A. Raman has been posted as Managing Director of the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, Lalitaditya Neelam has been appointed Commissioner of Salem Municipal Corporation.
District-Level Administrative Changes
At the district level, IAS officer G. Ravikumar, who earlier served as District Collector of Karur, has now been appointed District Collector of Tirupattur district.
IAS officer T. Charusree has been posted as Director of Treasuries and Accounts, while T. Christuraj has been appointed Director of Survey and Settlement.
Additionally, R. V. Shajeevana has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of the Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project and has also been entrusted with the additional responsibility of Project Director of the Tamil Nadu Women Employment and Safety Project.
Officials described the latest reshuffle as a comprehensive administrative exercise intended to strengthen governance, improve efficiency in public administration and ensure faster implementation of welfare, industrial and infrastructure-related projects across Tamil Nadu.
