The Central Government has empanelled Tarun Kumar Pithode, a 2009-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, for appointment to the post of Joint Secretary or its equivalent at the Centre.

Presently on Central deputation, Pithode has been serving as Director in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) since September 2024. His empanelment marks a significant milestone in a career defined by dedication, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to public service.

ACC Clears Names from 2009 Batch

This empanelment comes in continuation of earlier approvals granted by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). On February 10, 2025, the ACC had cleared the names of 16 IAS officers from the 2009 batch for Joint Secretary-level positions. An additional four officers were empanelled on March 24, 2025. With Pithode’s inclusion, the recognition of the batch’s collective record of service and achievement has been further strengthened.

Born on August 28, 1979, Tarun Kumar Pithode holds dual Bachelor of Engineering degrees in Communication Engineering and Electronics & Communication from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), Bhopal. Proficient in both English and Hindi, he is widely respected for his keen administrative insight and a governance style centered on people-first policies.
