The Government of India has formally approved the continuation of the central deputation tenure of Shri J. Nivas, a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre from the 2010 batch, who is currently serving at the Director level as DCO/DCR in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
According to an official memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar General of India (RGI) on December 10, 2025, the competent authority has given its consent to extend Shri Nivas’s deputation beyond the previously निर्धारित end date of December 31, 2025. Under the revised decision, his central deputation assignment will now remain effective until June 19, 2028. The order further clarifies that the tenure will continue up to the approved date or until any subsequent directive is issued by the Government of India, whichever occurs earlier.
The extension has been sanctioned under the provisions of the Central Staffing Scheme, which governs the appointment, tenure, and continuation of All India Service officers in central deputation posts. Officials indicated that such extensions are approved to ensure continuity in senior-level positions that require institutional expertise, administrative stability, and close coordination between the Centre and the states.
In his current role as DCO/DCR at the Director level, Shri J. Nivas is responsible for overseeing key functions related to civil registration systems, demographic data administration, and coordination with the Office of the Registrar General of India. His responsibilities include supervising policy implementation, ensuring data accuracy and compliance, and facilitating seamless cooperation between state authorities and central agencies involved in population and civil registration matters.
Official records further state that Shri J. Nivas has been serving on central deputation with effect from June 20, 2025. Since assuming charge, he has been associated with several important initiatives aimed at strengthening civil registration processes and improving the reliability and timeliness of demographic data in Andhra Pradesh.
Government sources noted that the decision to extend his deputation tenure reflects confidence in his administrative capabilities and the importance of retaining experienced officers in roles that are critical to national data systems and evidence-based policymaking. The extension order has been issued by the Deputy Secretary to the Government of India and will remain operative in accordance with the Central Staffing Scheme, subject to review or modification based on future administrative requirements.
