A group of seven trainee IAS officers visited Vidyut Soudha—headquarters of Andhra Pradesh’s power utilities—for an in-depth orientation on the state’s power generation, transmission, and regulatory systems.
As part of their visit, the officers toured the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC), where they observed real-time grid operations. They were introduced to advanced technologies such as AI-driven demand forecasting and digital monitoring tools that play a crucial role in maintaining grid stability and optimizing load management.
The session was led by AP-Genco Managing Director K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu, who provided insights into the state’s energy infrastructure, covering thermal and hydropower generation, integration of renewables, and ongoing project implementations. He acknowledged the strategic guidance provided by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, and Special Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand as instrumental in the sector’s growth and resilience.
The trainees were also briefed on key policy and regulatory mechanisms, including tariff structures, renewable energy initiatives, and public-private partnership models driving investment in the sector.
During their visit, the officers—Sachin Rahar, C. Narendra Padal, D. Prudhvi Raj Kumar, Farheen Zahid, Manisha, Sandeep Raghuvanshi, and K.C. Naga Venkata Sahith—interacted with AP-Transco Director (Grid) A.K.V. Bhaskar, Additional Secretary P.
