Bureaucratic Reshuffle: Chandrashekhar Nayaka L Appointed Private Secretary to Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Ministry of Corporate Affairs

In a significant bureaucratic realignment within the Union Ministry, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the transition of Shri Chandrashekhar Nayaka L (IAS, 2013: Karnataka) from the Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

This move ensures administrative continuity in the staff of Union Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, as Mr. Nayaka moves from an advisory “Special Duty” role to a key “Secretarial” leadership position.

Strategic Reassignment: Private Secretary to the Minister (MCA)

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has sanctioned a structural adjustment in the personal staff of the Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs. Under the new directive, the tenure of Shri Chandrashekhar Nayaka L (IAS, KN:2013) as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) within the Ministry of Finance has been curtailed to facilitate his immediate lateral shift.

Following this curtailment, the ACC has formally appointed Mr. Nayaka as the Private Secretary (PS) to the Minister within the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. This appointment is at the rank of Deputy Secretary, with a remuneration fixed at Level 12 of the pay matrix.

His new tenure is set for a total period of five years (combining his previous OSD stint and the new PS role), extending until August 3, 2030. The appointment is on a co-terminus basis, meaning his role is intrinsically linked to the Minister’s tenure, or until further administrative orders are issued—whichever milestone occurs earliest.

This move effectively consolidates the Minister’s core team by moving a trusted advisor into a pivotal coordinating role within the Corporate Affairs portfolio.
Profile Summary: Chandrashekhar Nayaka L, IAS

A native of Bengaluru and a 2013-batch officer, Mr. Nayaka has a robust background in finance and district administration. Before his central deputation, he served as the Deputy Commissioner of Raichur and held the position of Joint Secretary (Budget and Resources) in the Government of Karnataka.

His technical education and extensive experience in land revenue and local governance make him a versatile asset for the Minister’s office.
