Farewell Ceremony for Union Agriculture Secretary Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi; Shri Atish Chandra Appointed as Successor

The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare held a dignified farewell ceremony on Saturday to honor the retirement of Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, the outgoing Secretary of the Ministry. The event also marked the formal welcome of the newly appointed Agriculture Secretary, Shri Atish Chandra.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, praised Dr. Chaturvedi’s long and impactful administrative career, describing his tenure as dedicated, balanced, and transformative. He highlighted Dr. Chaturvedi’s leadership qualities, problem-solving skills, and commitment to transparency, which strengthened efficiency and coordination within the Ministry.
During the ceremony, Mr. Chouhan presented Dr. Chaturvedi with a memento and bouquet, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to India’s agricultural sector and farmers’ welfare.
Welcoming Shri Atish Chandra as the new Agriculture Secretary, Mr. Chouhan expressed confidence that under his leadership, the Ministry would achieve even greater results in advancing farmers’ interests and strengthening rural development initiatives.
The ceremony was attended by senior dignitaries, including Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, and Dr. M.L. Jat, Director General, ICAR, along with senior officers and staff of the Ministry.
