UP Govt Transfers 18 IPS Officers: Dr Satish Kumar Gets 1st SSF Battalion, Sanjiv Suman Posted to UPSIFS
The Uttar Pradesh Government has ordered a major reshuffle involving 18 IPS officers, bringing changes across several specialised and operational wings of the state police. The September 22 order covers the Special Security Force (SSF), Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), Crime Investigation Department (CID), Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), vigilance, regional intelligence, technical services, traffic, food cell and police training establishments.
Among the prominent changes, 2013-batch IPS officer Dr Satish Kumar has been posted as Commandant of the 1st Battalion, Special Security Force (SSF), Lucknow, while 2014-batch IPS officer Sanjiv Suman has been appointed Superintendent of Police at the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences (UPSIFS), Lucknow.
The latest order also includes 11 officers who were earlier serving as Additional Superintendents of Police and have since been promoted to the IPS cadre. Their new assignments have spread them across important specialised formations, including the ATS, vigilance, EOW, SSF, PAC, technical services, traffic and police training institutions.
Dr Satish Kumar Posted as Commandant, 1st Battalion SSF
Dr Satish Kumar, a 2013-batch IPS officer, has moved from his assignment as SP attached to the DGP Headquarters in Lucknow to the 1st Battalion, Special Security Force, Lucknow. He will serve as the Commandant of the specialised force unit.
The Uttar Pradesh Police officer database lists Satish Kumar as a 2013-batch IPS officer and records his posting as Commandant, 01 Battalion SSF, Lucknow, with September 22, 2026, as the date of posting. His academic qualifications include B.V.Sc. & A.H., M.V.Sc., PGCCL, PGDIS and LL.B.
The appointment places him in charge of one of the specialised units within the state’s security structure. His movement from the DGP Headquarters to a battalion-level command also marks a shift from headquarters responsibilities to the direct leadership of an operational security formation.
Sanjiv Suman Moves to Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences
Another significant posting in the order is that of Sanjiv Suman, a 2014-batch IPS officer. Suman has also been moved from his posting as SP attached to the DGP Headquarters in Lucknow.
He has now been appointed Superintendent of Police, Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences (UPSIFS), Lucknow. His new assignment took effect on September 22, 2026, according to the Uttar Pradesh Police database.
Suman holds a B.Tech degree in Computer Science. His appointment at UPSIFS places him within an institution associated with forensic sciences and the scientific support system used in criminal investigation. The posting comes as specialised forensic capabilities continue to form an important part of modern policing and investigation.
Sameer Saurabh Moves From CID to PAC Command
Sameer Saurabh, a 2016-batch officer recruited through the State Police Service route, has also received a new assignment. He has been transferred from his post as Superintendent of Police, CID, Lucknow, and posted as Commandant, 27th Battalion PAC, Sitapur.
The move takes him from a specialised investigation wing to the command of an armed police battalion. His new assignment will involve responsibility for the functioning of the 27th Battalion PAC at Sitapur.
The change is part of the broader movement of officers between specialised investigative formations and field-oriented police units under the latest state government order.
Ashutosh Dwivedi Posted as SP, Regional Intelligence, Ayodhya
Ashutosh Dwivedi, another 2016-batch State Police Service officer, has been transferred from the Superintendent of Police, Armed Police Training Centre (APTC), Sitapur, to Superintendent of Police, Regional Intelligence, Ayodhya.
His new posting takes him from a police training establishment to the regional intelligence setup in Ayodhya. The assignment gives him responsibility within the intelligence structure operating at the regional level.
The shift is among several in the reshuffle involving officers moving between training, intelligence and operational formations.
Anand Kumar-II Gets CID Lucknow Assignment
Anand Kumar-II, a 2017-batch State Police Service officer, has been moved from his position as SP, Regional Intelligence, Bareilly, to SP, Crime Investigation Department, Lucknow.
With the new assignment, Kumar-II will take charge of a specialised investigative role in the state capital. His transfer also forms part of the wider changes involving the CID and regional intelligence wings.
The CID posting comes as the department continues to handle specialised investigations and cases requiring dedicated investigative resources.
Sanjay Rai Posted to Economic Offences Wing
Sanjay Rai, a 2018-batch State Police Service officer, has been transferred from SP, Regional Intelligence, Ayodhya, to SP, Economic Offences Wing, Lucknow.
His new assignment brings him into the specialised economic-crime investigation structure of the Uttar Pradesh Police. The EOW handles cases involving financial and economic offences that require specialised investigation.
Rai’s transfer is another example of the latest reshuffle moving officers between intelligence responsibilities and specialised investigative wings.
Mahesh Singh Attri Moves to Regional Intelligence, Bareilly
Mahesh Singh Attri has also been given a new assignment. He has been transferred from his position as SP, Police Training School, Moradabad, to SP, Regional Intelligence, Bareilly.
The posting shifts Attri from a training establishment to an intelligence role. He will now head the regional intelligence assignment at Bareilly as part of the latest police restructuring.
11 Recently Promoted IPS Officers Receive New Postings
A substantial part of the September 22 order concerns 11 officers who had been serving as Additional Superintendents of Police and were subsequently promoted to the IPS cadre. Following their induction into the IPS, they have now been given new assignments across various police formations.
Their postings cover a notably wide range of responsibilities, including the ATS, vigilance, EOW, technical services, SSF, PAC, traffic, food cell and police training institutions.
