UP Government Mentors Next-Gen IPS Leadership: Principal Secretary Sanjay Prasad and DGP Rajiv Krishna Lay Out Roadmap for Field Excellence, Ethics & Public Trust

In an effort to cultivate a highly professional, people-centric police leadership for Uttar Pradesh, 23 trainee IPS officers held structured interactions with top state officials at Lok Bhavan and the Police Headquarters on Wednesday. The engagements served as a comprehensive mentoring exercise, focusing on field efficiency, ethical conduct, and enhancing public confidence in law enforcement.

Sanjay Prasad Emphasizes Ground-Level Vigilance, Sensitivity & Discipline

Addressing the trainees at Lok Bhavan, Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad, IAS, urged the officers to cultivate a habit of personally reaching incident locations, including minor disturbances. According to him, early intervention and visible police presence help prevent avoidable escalation and reassure local communities of administrative responsiveness.

He underlined several key expectations:

Courteous and respectful behaviour during public hearings

Strict adherence to punctuality, discipline, and administrative transparency

Clear, empathetic communication while interacting with citizens

A proactive approach to building trust with vulnerable groups

Mr. Prasad noted that even small behavioural cues shape public perception, and young officers must understand their influence in strengthening the image of the Uttar Pradesh Police.

A Strong Message on Professionalism and Accountability

The trainee officers present included:

Abhay Rajendra, Anjana Dahiya, Ankit Bansal, Bajrang Prasad, Tiksha Bhoria, Dinesh Gaudara, Ishwar Lal Gujjar, Sumedha Milind, Jaibind Kumar Gupta, Kanishka Jar Jamkar, Manshi, Md. Jaftab Alam, Pradeep Kumar, Premsukh Dariya, S. Deepti Chauhan, Samyak Vaichari, Chandrit Sharma, Sarika Chaichari, Slok Gautam, Srishti Jain, Shubham Jain, Simran Singh, and Vinay Patav.

The presence of ADG Training B.D. Palson, Special Secretary Home Rakesh Kumar Malpani, and senior officials Mahendra and Manjulata Singh underscored the administration’s commitment to strengthening foundational leadership skills among new IPS officers.

DGP Rajiv Krishna: “Your Image Is Your Most Valuable Asset”

Later at the Police Headquarters, Director General of Police Rajiv Krishna held an extensive interaction, highlighting professionalism, ethics, and public engagement as the cornerstones of effective policing.

He encouraged the probationers to:

Listen patiently to citizen grievances

Adapt continuously to changing governance and security challenges

Maintain humility and openness in their service

Prioritize clarity of vision and decisive leadership in complex situations

The DGP stressed that an officer’s reputation—built on integrity, fairness, and efficiency—is “more important than any official document,” and must be preserved through consistent conduct.

Guiding a New Era of People-Focused Policing in Uttar Pradesh

The day-long guidance sessions are expected to significantly shape the work ethic, field preparedness, and leadership approach of the incoming IPS cadre. With senior officials setting clear expectations for professionalism, emotional intelligence, and community engagement, Uttar Pradesh aims to create a police force that is modern, responsive, and deeply aligned with public welfare.

The initiative underscores the state’s commitment to nurturing officers who can uphold the principles of justice while fostering lasting trust with the citizens they serve.
