ACC Extends Temporary Upgradation of Senior Posts in Housing & Urban Affairs and Fertilizers Departments

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has granted approval for the continued temporary upgradation of two senior-level positions in key central ministries, ensuring administrative continuity and effective leadership in crucial sectors.

Extension of Upgraded Post in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs
The ACC has authorized an extension in the temporary upgradation of the post of Director to the rank of Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

This position is currently held by Ms. D. Thara, IAS (Gujarat cadre, 1995 batch).
The upgraded status of this role will remain in effect until 28 July 2026, allowing Ms. Thara to continue overseeing significant policy initiatives, urban development programmes, and large-scale infrastructure projects under the ministry’s purview.

Continuation of Upgraded Post in the Department of Fertilizers

Similarly, the ACC has approved the continuation of the temporary upgradation of the Joint Secretary post to the Additional Secretary level in the Department of Fertilizers.
This upgraded post is presently occupied by Ms. Aneeta C. Meshram, IAS (Uttar Pradesh cadre, 1996 batch).

Her tenure in the upgraded capacity has been extended until 05 November 2026, enabling sustained oversight of critical fertilizer sector policies, supply-chain management, and strategic initiatives aimed at supporting agricultural productivity across the country.

These extensions highlight the government’s emphasis on retaining experienced senior civil servants in key leadership positions to ensure the smooth execution of national programmes and policy frameworks in vital sectors such as urban development and agriculture.
