Senior Civil Servant to Strengthen Policy, Media Regulation and Broadcasting Governance at the Central Level
The Government of India has appointed Vijay Kumar Darak, an officer of the Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICoAS), as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), reinforcing the ministry’s administrative and financial governance framework.
The appointment has been made through the competent authority under the Central Staffing Scheme, and Mr. Darak will now assume responsibilities related to financial oversight, inter-ministerial coordination, and policy execution within one of the Union Government’s most strategically important communication ministries.

With his induction into the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Mr. Darak will play a vital role in supervising fiscal planning, budgetary implementation, audit compliance, and programme monitoring connected to national broadcasting policies, public communication platforms, digital media regulation, and content dissemination frameworks.
The ministry oversees critical public institutions such as Doordarshan, All India Radio, Press Information Bureau, and multiple autonomous media bodies, making the appointment significant for operational stability and transparency.
