ACC Clears Key IAS Appointments: Vir Vikram Yadav Named DGCA Chief, Gyanendra Tripathi Appointed Additional Secretary in Agriculture
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved another set of senior-level appointments, reinforcing leadership in critical sectors such as civil aviation and agricultural research.
Shri Vir Vikram Yadav (IAS, Odisha cadre, 1996 batch), who is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has been appointed as Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
This appointment will be at the rank and pay level of an Additional Secretary to the Government of India. The selection has been made by keeping the existing Recruitment Rules of the post in abeyance. He will succeed Shri Faiz Ahmed Kidwai (IAS, Madhya Pradesh cadre, 1996 batch), who has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
In another key development, Shri Gyanendra D. Tripathi (IAS, Assam-Meghalaya cadre, 1998 batch), who was serving in his parent cadre, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE). Along with this role, he will also serve as Secretary of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
These appointments underline the government’s focus on strengthening institutional leadership in sectors crucial for regulatory oversight, aviation safety, and agricultural innovation.
