In a fresh administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening law and order in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has appointed IPS officer Ankita Sharma, a 2018-batch officer of the Indian Police Service, as the new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Badaun. Prior to this posting, she was serving as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Kasganj, where she earned recognition for her proactive policing style and efficient handling of sensitive cases.

Early Life and Education

Ankita Sharma hails from Jaipur, Rajasthan, and was born on July 23, 1992. She pursued her B.Tech in Electrical Engineering before deciding to enter the civil services. Her father, Ashok Kumar Sharma, played a pivotal role in inspiring her journey.

After clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination, she joined the IPS in 2018 and was allotted the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Since then, she has served in multiple districts, gaining experience in both urban and rural policing environments.

Career Highlights and Key Postings

SP, Kasganj (2024–2026): Assumed charge on December 22, 2024. During her tenure, she oversaw several important criminal investigations and closely monitored law and order in the district.

DCP South, Kanpur Commissionerate: Supervised serious crime cases including murder and robbery. She also led multiple police operations against organized crime networks. In addition, she was entrusted with the traffic department, where she introduced measures to streamline traffic management.

Noida Posting: Actively participated in Mission Shakti, a state-wide campaign focused on women’s safety and empowerment. She implemented awareness programs and strengthened policing measures against crimes targeting women.

Her consistent focus on women’s safety and her firm stance against criminal activities have made her one of the most dynamic young officers in the Uttar Pradesh Police.

In Noida, Ankita Sharma became known for her leadership in Mission Shakti, where she spearheaded initiatives to protect women and empower vulnerable groups.
