Deputy Secretary Ashish Saxena Elevated as Director in Ministry of Mines after Post Re-designation
In a key administrative decision, the Government of India has approved the re-designation of the post currently occupied by Shri Ashish Saxena, an officer of the Indian Statistical Service (ISS) batch of 2012, upgrading his position from Deputy Secretary to Director in the Ministry of Mines.
As per the official order, the existing Deputy Secretary post has been formally converted into a Director-level position on a personal basis in favour of Shri Saxena. The re-designation will take effect from the date he assumes charge of the upgraded role.
The revised appointment places Shri Saxena in a senior policy and decision-making capacity within the Ministry of Mines, entrusting him with enhanced responsibilities related to mineral policy formulation, regulatory oversight, data governance, and inter-departmental coordination.
This elevation reflects the government’s continued focus on strengthening institutional leadership in key infrastructure and natural resource sectors, and it is expected to contribute significantly to improved data-driven governance and policy implementation in India’s mining administration.
