Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shinde has asked IAS Tukaram Mundhe to investigate sudden flamingo deaths in Navi Mumbai.
This has been pointed out by the experts and wildlife conservationists that the burial of water inlets in these fragile wetlands is the most viable factor behind the death of the flamingos.
CM Eknath Shinde has now mandated IAS Tukaram Mundhe (2005 batch), to probe the sudden deaths of flamingos near the DPS lake of Navi Mumbai. Mundhe is currently serving as Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry,
A total number of ten flamingos had died whereas five were injured within a week. This sparked off apprehension in the minds of environment lovers and the NatConnect Foundation. Resultantly, they have urged the state government to conduct a high-level probe over this.
