The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has formally confirmed the suspension of senior IPS officer and former Chief of the Vigilance Bureau, Surinder Pal Singh Parmar (1997 batch, Punjab cadre), until June 23, 2025. The order was conveyed to the Punjab Chief Secretary through an official communication.
The suspension was approved under Rule 3(1) of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, following a formal request submitted by the Punjab Government via a letter dated May 5, 2025.
As part of the disciplinary process, the MHA has instructed the Punjab Government to serve a charge-sheet to Mr. Parmar by June 23, 2025, and to forward a copy to the ministry for official documentation. While the nature of the allegations has not been publicly disclosed, the direction to initiate formal proceedings indicates that charges may soon be officially framed.
The suspension and pending disciplinary measures reflect a heightened level of administrative scrutiny, although further details remain confidential at this stage.
