The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, addressed a group of IAS probationers today at Punjab Raj Bhavan, offering words of encouragement and guidance as they embark on their journey in public administration.
Congratulating the officers on their success in the highly competitive All India Services Examination, the Governor emphasized their crucial role in building a better future for the nation. He called upon them to uphold the principles of good governance, ensure efficient public service delivery, and implement welfare schemes effectively and on time.
In his address, Governor Kataria said, “Use your education and training not just to administer, but to serve the people as their friend, guide, and well-wisher.” He urged the officers to balance firmness in upholding the rule of law with empathy and compassion in their public interactions.
Highlighting the importance of sound planning and execution, he also underscored the need for a deep understanding of the Indian Constitution, describing it as the foundational document guiding their administrative careers. Additionally, he recommended learning local languages to connect more meaningfully with communities and to better understand grassroots issues.
The interaction reflected a spirit of mentorship and dialogue. The Governor shared insights from his own experiences in public life and encouraged the probationers to stay grounded and committed to the ethos of service.
