Dr. Kulwant Singh, an Indian Police Service officer of the 2013 batch from the Tripura cadre, has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) on deputation for a period of five years.

The appointment, approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as per an official order dated May 19, 2025, will be effective from the date Dr. Singh assumes charge or until further orders—whichever comes earlier.

Currently, Dr. Singh is serving as Superintendent of Police (Economic Offences) in the Crime Branch of Tripura Police, where he has played a pivotal role in investigating complex financial crimes. His expertise in economic offences is expected to significantly contribute to the BPR&D’s mandate of promoting excellence in policing practices and criminal justice reforms.

The MHA has also instructed the Tripura state government to relieve Dr. Singh immediately to enable his smooth transition to the new central assignment.

This deputation marks a key career milestone for Dr. Singh and reinforces the Centre’s ongoing efforts to leverage experienced officers in shaping police modernization and policy development at the national level.
