In a significant administrative move, the Rajasthan government has issued transfer and posting orders for four Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including the appointment of new Superintendents of Police (SPs) in three districts.
The reshuffle, effective from May 20, 2025, reflects the state’s ongoing efforts to streamline police administration and improve law enforcement mechanisms.
Key Appointments
Lokesh Sonewal (IPS: 2015) has been transferred from SP, SOG, Jaipur to take charge as the new SP of Jhunjhunu.
Shailendra Singh Indolyia (IPS: 2017), previously awaiting posting, has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Headquarters and Traffic, Police Commissionerate Jodhpur.
Hari Shankar (IPS: 2019), formerly SP of Balotra, will now serve as SP of Hanumangarh.
Amit Jain (IPS: 2020), who was DCP (Headquarters & Traffic), Jodhpur, has been posted as the new SP of Balotra.
This administrative reshuffle underscores the state government’s strategy to ensure efficient policing by placing experienced officers in key positions. These changes are part of a broader initiative to reinforce public safety and law and order in critical districts.
Expected Impact on District Policing
The newly appointed SPs bring a wealth of experience and leadership, expected to enhance the operational efficiency of district police units. With fresh leadership in Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh, and Balotra, the state aims to address region-specific challenges more effectively and improve the overall policing landscape.
As these officers assume their new roles, their leadership is anticipated to contribute significantly to maintaining law and order, advancing community policing, and supporting the state’s mission of delivering responsive and effective governance.
