Latest Transfer Follows Recent Postings in Prisons Administration and Telecommunications
Pradeep Gupta, a 2010-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons, Kanpur Zone, as per a fresh transfer order issued by the Uttar Pradesh Government. He has been instructed to take charge immediately and confirm his joining with the authorities.
The transfer order, issued by Special Secretary Madan Mohan, states that Gupta—who was recently serving as DIG, Prisons Administration and Reform Services, Lucknow—will now assume charge of the Kanpur Zone Prisons.
Notably, this reassignment comes just weeks after his previous transfer from DIG, Telecommunications to the Prisons Administration in Lucknow, indicating rapid shifts in key administrative responsibilities.
Gupta began his policing career with the Uttar Pradesh Police in 1994 and has served in various significant roles across the state. He was inducted into the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 2010, attained selection grade in 2023, and was promoted to the DIG rank on January 1, 2024.
A native of Lucknow, he was born on October 12, 1966, into the family of Krishna Kumar Gupta, and holds a postgraduate degree in Physics. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing prison management, security, and reform initiatives in the Kanpur Zone.
