Madhya Pradesh prepares for a fresh wave of IAS transfers following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, with strategic postings designed to strengthen governance and accelerate development.
The Madhya Pradesh government is set to undertake another round of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) transfers, aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and ensuring faster implementation of developmental priorities. The reshuffle is expected to take place shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the state on September 17.
This new list, coming close on the heels of a recent transfer exercise, is expected to fine-tune both field-level and departmental leadership to align with the state’s governance objectives.
Commissioners and Collectors Conference in October
As part of the larger administrative roadmap, the government has scheduled a high-level conference of commissioners and collectors in October. The transfer list is likely to be issued in advance of this meeting, enabling newly appointed officers to participate and synchronize with the state’s strategic governance goals.
High-Profile Collector Transfers on the Horizon
With the recent reassignment of the Indore and Jabalpur collectors (2010 batch), attention now shifts to Bhopal and Chhindwara. Bhopal Collector Mr. Kaushalendra Singh and Chhindwara Collector Mr. Sheelendra Singh are both tipped for transfers.
Bhind Collector Mr. Sanjeev Shrivastava may also be moved following reported tensions with a local legislator. Other collectors under consideration for reassignment include:
Mr. Priyank Mishra (Dhar)
Mr. Abhay Bedekar (Alirajpur)
Mr. Ankit Asthana (Morena)
Ms. Pratibha Pal Sinth (Rewa)
Mr. Narendra Suryawanshi (Betul)
Ms. Neha Marwa (Dindori)
Ms. Rani Batad (Maihar)
Strategic Postings in Bhopal and Jal Nigam
Mr. K.V.S. Choudhary Kolsani, a 2011-batch IAS officer and current Managing Director of Jal Nigam, is reportedly being considered for a strategic posting in the state capital. Alongside him, Mr. Narendra Suryawanshi and Mr. Deepak Arya (both 2012 batch) are also in the running for prominent roles in Bhopal.
Meanwhile, Mr. Priyank Mishra may be reassigned to another district as part of the shake-up.
2016-Batch IAS Officers to Be Elevated as Collectors
One of the significant developments in the reshuffle will be the elevation of 2016-batch IAS officers to district collector positions. Officers likely to be entrusted with these key roles include:
Mr. Harendra Narayan (Commissioner, Bhopal Nagar Nigam)
Mr. Gaurav Benal
Mr. Kirodilal Meena
Ms. Misha Singh
This move reflects the government’s push to bring in younger, dynamic officers to strengthen grassroots administration.
Department-Level Changes and Central Deputation
Beyond field postings, several key changes at the principal secretary and departmental head levels are also under consideration. The Tourism and Culture Department is expected to get a new head following Mr. Shiv Shekhar Shukla’s appointment as Additional Chief Secretary to the Home Department.
In addition, Ms. Sufiyah Faruqui Wali, a 2009-batch officer currently serving as Commissioner of the Women and Child Development Department (WCDD), has been deputed to the Census Department of the Central Government in Bhopal. A replacement for her position at WCDD is expected shortly.
Strengthening Governance Through Strategic Appointments
The anticipated reshuffle is designed to rejuvenate administrative leadership across the state, enabling more effective implementation of policies, developmental projects, and Central as well as State schemes. The Madhya Pradesh government appears focused on carefully calibrated postings that will reinforce its governance roadmap and improve inter-departmental coordination.
