UP Transfers 7 IPS Officers: Major reshuffle also brings new Divisional Commissioners in Lucknow, Bareilly, and Prayagraj

Lucknow: In yet another round of high-level administrative reshuffles, the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday transferred seven IPS officers, a day after shifting 16 IAS officers. The moves are part of the Yogi Adityanath administration’s strategy to strengthen policing and streamline governance across key districts and commissionerates.

Key IPS Postings

The newly issued orders bring fresh faces to important law enforcement positions in Lucknow, Meerut, Rampur, Noida, and Ghaziabad. Notable appointments include:

Dev Ranjan Verma (IPS, 2011 batch): Appointed Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Training Directorate, Lucknow. He was earlier DIG, Rules and Texts, Lucknow.

Dr. Satish Kumar (IPS, 2013 batch): Now Superintendent of Police (SP), attached to the DGP Headquarters, UP, moving from Commander, SDRF, Lucknow.

Abhijeet Verma (IPS, 2013 batch): Assigned as Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), Meerut, shifting from Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Prayagraj.

Atul Kumar Srivastava (Promotee IPS, SPS–1999): Posted as SP/Additional SP, Rampur, and will also hold additional charge as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Kanpur Commissionerate.

Mamta Rani Chaudhary (Promotee IPS): Continues as Additional DCP, Lucknow Commissionerate, with an upgraded role.

Shailendra Kumar Singh (Promotee IPS): Appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), replacing the SP/ASP, Amethi.

Trigun Bisen (Promotee IPS): Takes charge as DCP, Ghaziabad, after serving as SP/Additional SP, Firozabad.

IAS Reshuffle and New Divisional Commissioners

On Tuesday, the state government transferred 16 IAS officers, with key postings including:

Vijay Vishwas Pant: Divisional Commissioner, Lucknow (from Prayagraj).

Soumya Agarwal: Divisional Commissioner, Prayagraj (from Bareilly).

Anamika Singh: Divisional Commissioner, Bareilly (earlier Secretary, Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department).

Sources indicate further changes at the Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary levels are likely in the coming days.

Strategic Moves in High-Profile Districts

Among the IPS postings, Shailendra Kumar Singh’s appointment as DCP Noida is viewed as a strategic step to bolster security and improve policing efficiency in one of the state’s fastest-growing urban hubs. Similarly, Abhijeet Verma’s shift to rural Meerut underscores the government’s focus on strengthening law enforcement in sensitive districts.

These reshuffles reflect the state’s continuing push to tighten administrative control and enhance law and order across Uttar Pradesh.
