Rajeev Verma Posted as Delhi’s New Chief Secy, to Assume Charge from October 1

Senior IAS officer Rajeev Verma, a 1992-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Delhi. He will take charge on October 1, 2025, succeeding Dharmendra, who retires on September 30.

According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday, “With the approval of the competent authority, Rajeev Verma, IAS (AGMUT:1992), is hereby transferred from Chandigarh to Delhi and posted as Chief Secretary, GNCTD, with effect from 01.10.2025 or from the date of joining, whichever is later.”

Verma is currently serving as the Chief Secretary of Chandigarh, a post he has held since January 29, 2024. Between 2022 and 2024, he was Advisor to the Administrator and Additional Secretary in Chandigarh.

A native of Uttar Pradesh, Verma holds an MTech degree from IIT and has had a distinguished bureaucratic career spanning more than three decades.

In Delhi, he previously served as Finance and Revenue Secretary (2018–2022) and held senior assignments in the Transport Department as well as other key portfolios in the city administration. At the central level, he has worked with the Ministries of Defence, Power, and Health & Family Welfare in important capacities.
