Steps Into Role After the Passing of Veteran IAS Officer S. K. Nanda

Manoj Aggarwal, a retired IAS officer, has been named the new chief mentor of the Ahmedabad International Literature Festival (AILF). He assumes this position following the demise of former senior bureaucrat S. K. Nanda in July last year, who had been closely associated with the festival as a senior adviser and key guide in shaping its cultural and intellectual direction.

Carrying Forward a Tradition of Civil Servants in Cultural Platforms

Late S. K. Nanda, remembered for his wide-ranging interest in governance and cultural affairs, had been an active voice at the festival and significantly influenced its evolution. Manoj Aggarwal, who superannuated in October 2023 while serving as Additional Chief Secretary (Health) in the Gujarat government, is expected to bring his administrative insights and leadership to further strengthen the festival’s presence.

AILF’s 10th Edition to Spotlight Literature and Cinema

The milestone 10th edition of the Ahmedabad International Literature Festival is scheduled for October 11–12, with the central theme “Literature and Cinema.” The event will convene writers, filmmakers, theatre experts, and scholars, offering a vibrant intersection of storytelling, art, and performance.

High-Profile Participation Anticipated

Among the distinguished participants this year will be Navneet Kumar Sehgal, Chairman of Prasar Bharati, whose presence highlights the festival’s distinctive blend of literature, governance, and media narratives.

AILF: A Decade-Long Journey of Ideas and Dialogue

Over the past ten years, AILF has established itself as one of Gujarat’s leading cultural events, creating a platform for cross-disciplinary conversations. With Manoj Aggarwal taking on the role of chief mentor, the festival continues its tradition of drawing wisdom from seasoned civil servants to enrich its intellectual vision and future growth.
