Deputy Secretary, Central Water Commission, to Continue in Ministry of Jal Shakti till October 2027 or Until Further Orders

In a recent administrative development, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has granted approval for the extension of the Central deputation tenure of Shri Ch. Hari Krishna Reddy, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes), 2013 batch. He is currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Central Water Commission (CWC) under the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti.

According to the official communication issued by the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation on September 16, 2025, the proposal for extending Shri Reddy’s tenure was placed before the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet for consideration.

The ACC has now approved the proposal to extend his Central deputation for a further period of two years beyond October 12, 2025, that is, up to October 12, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Shri Ch. Hari Krishna Reddy has been serving in the Central Water Commission as part of the Central Staffing Scheme, contributing to key policy initiatives and administrative functions related to river development, water resource management, and the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG).

The extension of his tenure is viewed as a continuation of his ongoing role in coordinating inter-departmental programs on river rejuvenation, water conservation, and sustainable resource utilization, aligning with the government’s larger mission of Jal Jeevan and Namami Gange.

This approval underscores the Centre’s emphasis on retaining experienced officers in critical departments engaged in water management and river restoration, reflecting continuity in administrative leadership for flagship national programs.
