Senior IAS officer to continue leading key digital governance initiatives for another six months
In a recent administrative decision, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of the additional charge of the post of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO), Digital India Corporation (DIC), assigned to Shri Nand Kumarum, IAS (Madhya Pradesh cadre, 2008 batch).
The approval follows a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), referenced under ID No. 2(9)/2019-Pers.I dated August 20, 2025.
As per the Cabinet’s decision, Shri Nand Kumarum, who presently serves as President and CEO of the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), will continue to hold additional charge of the MD & CEO, Digital India Corporation for a further period of six months with effect from July 9, 2025, or until a regular incumbent is appointed, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Shri Kumarum has been at the forefront of India’s digital transformation and e-governance programs, playing a pivotal role in implementing flagship initiatives under the Digital India mission, including digital service delivery, capacity building, and public digital infrastructure development.
The extension ensures continuity in leadership at the Digital India Corporation, a key entity under MeitY that drives innovation, policy implementation, and technology-based governance reforms.
Officials in the Ministry noted that Shri Kumarum’s continued charge will support the smooth execution of several national digital platforms and e-governance projects, particularly those aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
This move underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining experienced administrative oversight in India’s digital transformation agenda, as the Digital India Corporation continues to serve as the central coordinating agency for innovation and technological advancement across ministries.
