Cabinet Panel Clears One-Year Extension of IRS Officer Reshma R. Nair’s Deputation in Prime Minister’s Office Till January 2027
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has formally granted approval for the continuation of the central deputation tenure of Ms. Reshma Reghunathan Nair, IRS (Income Tax Cadre: 2011 batch), who is currently serving in the capacity of Director in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
As per the sanctioned order, Ms. Nair’s deputation assignment within the PMO has been extended by a further one-year term beyond its existing completion date of January 19, 2026. The renewed tenure will now remain effective until January 19, 2027, subject to standard administrative conditions.
The extension will be operative until the completion of the approved period or until further directions are issued by the Government of India — whichever occurs earlier.
This decision reflects the government’s continued confidence in Ms. Nair’s administrative capabilities and her contribution to policy coordination, governance oversight, and inter-ministerial facilitation within the Prime Minister’s Office, which plays a pivotal role in shaping national governance priorities and monitoring flagship programmes.
The move is also aimed at ensuring continuity in key policy execution frameworks and sustaining institutional stability within the PMO during a phase marked by ongoing reforms, economic initiatives, and strategic governance planning at the highest executive level.
