ACC Approves Senior IAS Moves: Abhishek Singh Appointed NTA DG, Bhuvnesh Kumar Named Tourism Secretary

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared another set of important senior-level appointments, further strengthening leadership across key government institutions.

Shri Abhishek Singh (IAS, Nagaland cadre, 1995 batch), who is currently serving as Director General of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has been appointed as Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA) under the Ministry of Education.

This position has been temporarily upgraded to carry the rank and pay equivalent to that of a Secretary to the Government of India, highlighting the strategic importance of the role.

In a separate appointment, Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar (IAS, Uttar Pradesh cadre, 1995 batch), presently serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), has been appointed as Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism. He will succeed Shri Srivatsa Krishna (IAS, Karnataka cadre, 1994 batch), who has been reassigned as Secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

These decisions are part of the government’s broader effort to ensure capable and experienced leadership in critical sectors such as digital governance, education, and tourism, thereby enhancing administrative efficiency and policy execution.
