ACC Approves Elevation of Senior IAS Officers: Sanjay Rastogi Gets Secretary Rank, Sajjan Singh Yadav Becomes Special Secretary in Finance

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved key elevations involving senior IAS officers, reinforcing leadership continuity and recognizing administrative experience at the highest levels.

Shri Sanjay Rastogi (IAS, Odisha cadre, 1991 batch), who is currently serving as Director General of the National Archives of India under the Ministry of Culture, has been granted an in-situ upgradation. While he will continue in his existing position, his role has now been elevated to carry the rank and pay equivalent to that of a Secretary to the Government of India, reflecting the significance of his responsibilities.

In another important development, Shri Sajjan Singh Yadav (IAS, AGMUT cadre, 1996 batch), presently working as Additional Secretary in the Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance, has been promoted to the position of Special Secretary in the same department. This elevation places him in a more senior administrative role, enabling him to contribute more significantly to financial governance and policy execution.

These decisions highlight the government’s approach of strengthening institutional capacity by recognizing senior officers’ expertise while ensuring stability in critical departments.
