The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the Civil Services Board’s recommendation for the appointment of Ms. Ambica Anand, ISS (2009), as Director in the 8th Central Pay Commission under the Department of Expenditure, on a lateral shift basis, co‑terminus with the Commission, extendable up to 13 October 2030.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has formally approved the recommendation put forward by the Civil Services Board (CSB) regarding the appointment of Ms. Ambica Anand, an officer of the Indian Statistical Service (ISS), 2009 batch, who is presently serving as Director in the Ministry of Steel.
Under this decision, Ms. Anand has been appointed as Director in the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) within the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, on a lateral shift basis. Her appointment will be on a co‑terminus basis with the 8th CPC, and the tenure is extendable up to 13 October 2030. This extension corresponds to the balance period of the admissible five‑year tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme, or until further orders are issued, whichever is earlier.
This move reflects the government’s emphasis on ensuring that experienced officers with specialized expertise are positioned in critical roles within the Central Pay Commission framework, which plays a pivotal role in shaping compensation structures for government employees.
The appointment of Ms. Anand, with her background in statistical analysis and administrative leadership, is expected to strengthen the functioning of the 8th CPC and contribute to evidence‑based policy formulation in matters of public expenditure and pay revision.
