Chhattisgarh Reshuffles Bureaucracy: 8 IAS and 19 State Service Officers Transferred, Suruchi Singh Named Bhilai Municipal Commissioner

The Chhattisgarh government has transferred 8 IAS and 19 State Administrative Service officers in a major administrative reshuffle. Suruchi Singh has been appointed Bhilai Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Remijius Ekka gets additional charge of SUDA CEO, while several district CEOs and senior officers receive new postings.

In a fresh administrative exercise aimed at strengthening governance across departments and districts, the Chhattisgarh Government has announced a major reshuffle involving eight Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and 19 State Administrative Service (SAS) officers. The transfer orders, issued late on Tuesday night by the General Administration Department, bring significant changes in urban administration, district governance, revenue administration, education, health, and several other key sectors.

The latest reshuffle has resulted in new postings for officers serving in municipal corporations, district panchayats, state directorates and important government departments. Officials believe the transfers are part of the government’s continuous effort to improve administrative efficiency, accelerate developmental projects and ensure better delivery of public services across the state.

Among the most significant appointments, Suruchi Singh (IAS:2020) has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the Bhilai Municipal Corporation, while Remijius Ekka (IAS:2011) has been entrusted with additional responsibility as Chief Executive Officer of the State Urban Development Authority (SUDA). Gajendra Singh Thakur (IAS:2019) has also been shifted to the Revenue and Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department as Deputy Secretary.

Major Administrative Exercise Across Departments

The latest round of transfers reflects the state’s emphasis on deploying experienced officers in critical administrative positions. The reshuffle covers urban governance, district administration, rural development, revenue management and several important state institutions.

Senior officials pointed out that periodic transfers help bring fresh administrative perspectives while ensuring that officers gain exposure to diverse areas of governance. Such exercises are also intended to improve coordination between departments and enhance the pace of policy implementation.

The General Administration Department issued the notification late Tuesday night, with all concerned officers directed to assume charge of their new assignments at the earliest.

Remijius Ekka Entrusted with Additional SUDA Responsibility

One of the most notable decisions in the reshuffle concerns Remijius Ekka (IAS:2011).

Presently serving as Director of the Urban Administration and Development Department, Ekka has now been assigned the additional charge of Chief Executive Officer of the State Urban Development Authority (SUDA).

The additional responsibility places him at the centre of the state’s urban development initiatives, which include implementation of housing schemes, urban infrastructure projects, municipal reforms and various centrally sponsored urban development programmes.

With his experience in urban administration, officials expect that the additional assignment will help improve coordination between the Urban Administration Department and SUDA, enabling faster execution of development projects across urban local bodies.

The move also reflects the government’s confidence in Ekka’s administrative capabilities and his experience in handling large-scale urban governance responsibilities.

Suruchi Singh Becomes Commissioner of Bhilai Municipal Corporation

Another important appointment in the reshuffle is that of Suruchi Singh (IAS:2020).

Previously serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Zila Panchayat in Rajnandgaon, she has now been transferred and appointed Commissioner of the Bhilai Municipal Corporation.

Bhilai Municipal Corporation is among Chhattisgarh’s largest and most significant urban local bodies. It oversees civic administration in one of the state’s major industrial regions and is responsible for urban planning, sanitation, water supply, roads, waste management, taxation and implementation of various welfare schemes.

The appointment places a relatively young IAS officer in charge of a corporation that plays an important role in the state’s industrial and urban development.

Officials believe her experience in district-level rural administration will be valuable in handling the complex challenges of urban governance, public service delivery and infrastructure development in Bhilai.

Gajendra Singh Thakur Shifted to Revenue Department

The reshuffle has also brought an important change in the Revenue and Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department.

Gajendra Singh Thakur (IAS:2019), who has been serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Zila Panchayat in Dhamtari, has now been transferred as Deputy Secretary in the Revenue and Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department.

The department is responsible for land administration, disaster preparedness, rehabilitation measures, revenue management and several policy matters related to governance at the state level.

Officials expect that Thakur’s district administration experience will contribute to more effective coordination in revenue administration and disaster management initiatives.

Several District CEOs Get New Assignments

The government has also carried out a series of transfers involving IAS officers serving as Chief Executive Officers of various Zila Panchayats.

These appointments are expected to strengthen district-level administration and improve implementation of rural development programmes.

The transfers include:

Prateek Jain (IAS:2020), previously CEO of Zila Panchayat, Bastar, has been posted as CEO of Zila Panchayat, Korba.
Jayant Nahata (IAS:2021), who was serving as CEO of Zila Panchayat, Dantewada, has been transferred as CEO of Zila Panchayat, Dhamtari.
M. Bhargav (IAS:2023), serving as Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) at Dongargarh in Rajnandgaon district, has been appointed CEO of Zila Panchayat, Dantewada.
Tanmay Khanna (IAS:2023), earlier posted as SDO (Revenue), Katghora in Korba district, has been transferred as CEO of Zila Panchayat, Bastar.
Durga Prasad (IAS:2023), who was serving as SDO (Revenue), Gharghora in Raigarh district, has been appointed CEO of Zila Panchayat, Rajnandgaon.

These postings place relatively young IAS officers in leadership roles at the district level, where they will supervise implementation of rural development schemes, Panchayati Raj initiatives, livelihood programmes and infrastructure projects.

State Administrative Service Officers Also Shifted

Along with the IAS transfers, the government has also transferred 19 officers belonging to the State Administrative Service.

The reshuffle covers several departments that play an important role in governance and public service delivery.

Among the prominent postings:

Indrajit Barman has been assigned a new responsibility in the Department of Health Services.
Rajiv Kumar Pandey has been posted to the Directorate of Higher Education.
Bharti Chandrakar has been transferred to Markfed.
Dinesh Kumar Nag has been posted to the Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation.
Nayantara Singh Tomar has been assigned responsibilities in the Directorate of Medical Education.

Officials believe these changes will strengthen departmental administration and improve coordination across government institutions.

Fresh CEOs for District Panchayats

The state government has also appointed several State Administrative Service officers as Chief Executive Officers of district panchayats.

The new appointments include:

Gokul Ram Rabte has been posted as CEO, Zila Panchayat, Mungeli.
Ashutosh Chaturvedi has been appointed CEO, Zila Panchayat, Balrampur-Ramanujganj.
Abhishek Kumar Gupta has been posted as CEO, Zila Panchayat, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki.

District Panchayat CEOs play a crucial role in implementing rural development programmes, monitoring welfare schemes, coordinating with elected representatives and ensuring effective utilisation of government resources.

The appointments are expected to strengthen governance at the grassroots level.

Other Important Departmental Assignments

Apart from district and municipal postings, the reshuffle has also resulted in fresh departmental responsibilities for several officers.

Among them:

Prabhakar Pandey has been transferred to the Sports and Youth Welfare Department.
Shashank Pandey has been assigned a new responsibility in the Chhattisgarh Road Infrastructure Development Corporation (CGRIDC).

These assignments are expected to support the government’s efforts in infrastructure development, youth programmes and departmental administration.

Government Focuses on Better Governance

Officials indicated that the latest administrative reshuffle has been undertaken with the objective of improving governance, accelerating implementation of government schemes and ensuring greater administrative efficiency across departments.

By repositioning officers with varied field and departmental experience, the government aims to strengthen decision-making, improve coordination among different agencies and enhance the delivery of public services.

The appointments are also expected to provide continuity in key development projects while bringing fresh administrative leadership to important institutions.

Orders Issued Late Tuesday Night

The transfer notification was issued by the General Administration Department late on Tuesday night.

The orders cover appointments in municipal corporations, district panchayats, revenue administration, urban development, health, education and several other government institutions.

With the latest reshuffle now taking effect, the newly posted officers are expected to assume charge of their respective assignments in the coming days.

The changes are being viewed as another significant administrative exercise by the Chhattisgarh Government to strengthen governance across the state while ensuring smoother implementation of development programmes, better coordination among departments and improved public service delivery at both the urban and rural levels.
