Gujarat IPS-SPS Reshuffle: 10 Officers Transferred, Four Young IPS Get ASP Posts, Six Move to SRPF Command
The Gujarat Home Department has ordered a fresh reshuffle involving 10 Indian Police Service and State Police Service officers, with the changes covering divisional policing as well as leadership positions in the State Reserve Police Force. The September 18, 2026 order includes four young IPS officers from the 2023 and 2024 batches, who have been given Assistant Superintendent of Police assignments, while six SPS officers have been transferred to Commandant-level positions in different SRPF groups.
The order, issued from Gandhinagar by Principal Secretary Sanjeev Kumar, takes effect immediately. The latest changes spread senior and junior police officers across several parts of the state, including Ahmedabad, Vav-Tharad, Devbhumi Dwarka, Dahod, Vadodara, Banaskantha, Panchmahal, Rajkot and Surat.
The appointments have been made under the authority of the Governor of Gujarat and involve both operational field assignments and command responsibilities within the state’s reserve police structure.
Four Young IPS Officers Get Divisional ASP Assignments
One of the key components of the reshuffle is the posting of four young IPS officers to Assistant Superintendent of Police positions. The officers belong to the 2023 and 2024 batches and have been assigned to different police divisions, giving them direct field responsibilities in geographically diverse parts of Gujarat.
Mansi R. Meena Posted as ASP, Viramgam Division
Mansi R. Meena, IPS (2023), has been appointed Assistant Superintendent of Police, Viramgam Division, in Ahmedabad district. The posting gives the 2023-batch officer an operational assignment in a divisional police setup and places her in charge of policing responsibilities in the Viramgam area.
Her appointment is part of the latest deployment of young IPS officers into field-level positions across Gujarat. The ASP role provides officers with an opportunity to handle policing and administrative responsibilities at the divisional level while working closely with district police leadership.
Mausam Harshadbhai Mehta Gets Deodar Division
Mausam Harshadbhai Mehta, IPS (2023), has been posted as ASP, Deodar Division, in Vav-Tharad district. The assignment places another officer from the 2023 batch in a divisional operational role in north Gujarat.
The posting comes as part of the state’s latest effort to fill field-level police assignments across its districts and divisions. Mehta will now take up responsibilities in Deodar under the Vav-Tharad district police administration.
Prakhar Kumar Posted as ASP, Khambhalia
Prakhar Kumar, IPS (2024), has been appointed ASP, Khambhalia Division, in Devbhumi Dwarka district. The posting marks a field assignment for the 2024-batch officer in the coastal Saurashtra region.
Khambhalia is an important police division within Devbhumi Dwarka, and the new assignment brings a young IPS officer into direct operational policing responsibilities. Kumar’s posting forms part of the four ASP-level appointments announced through the latest order.
Karankumar Mansukhbhai Panna Gets Limkheda Division
Karankumar Mansukhbhai Panna, IPS (2024), has been posted as ASP, Limkheda Division, in Dahod district. The assignment gives the officer responsibility for divisional policing in Limkheda and represents another field posting for a relatively recently inducted IPS officer.
Together, the four appointments cover police divisions in Ahmedabad, Vav-Tharad, Devbhumi Dwarka and Dahod, bringing officers from the 2023 and 2024 batches into operational roles across different regions of Gujarat.
Six SPS Officers Move to SRPF Command Posts
Alongside the four IPS postings, the Gujarat Home Department has transferred six State Police Service officers to Commandant positions in different State Reserve Police Force groups. Most of these assignments involve vacant ex-cadre Commandant posts and cover SRPF formations located across several districts.
The changes affect officers who were previously serving in city policing, district police leadership, police headquarters and training-related assignments. Their new responsibilities will place them in charge of SRPF groups in Vadodara, Banaskantha, Dahod, Godhra, Rajkot and Surat.
J.I. Vasava Appointed Commandant, SRPF Group-9
J.I. Vasava, who was serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic-North, Vadodara City, has been transferred as Commandant, SRPF Group-9, Vadodara.
The posting shifts Vasava from urban traffic policing to command of an SRPF formation. As Commandant, he will be responsible for the administration and functioning of the designated reserve police group.
D.M. Chauhan Gets SRPF Group-3
D.M. Chauhan, previously Superintendent of Police, Visnagar, Mehsana, has been appointed Commandant, SRPF Group-3, Madana, in Banaskantha district.
The move takes Chauhan from district-level police leadership to the command of an SRPF unit. The new position involves responsibility for a reserve police formation based in Madana.
Prakashkumar Vishnuprasad Raval Moves to SRPF Group-4
Prakashkumar Vishnuprasad Raval, who was serving as Assistant Commandant, SRPF Group-15 at ONGC Mehsana, has been transferred as Commandant, SRPF Group-4, Pavdi, in Dahod.
The appointment represents a move from an Assistant Commandant position to Commandant of another SRPF formation. Raval will now take charge of Group-4 at Pavdi under the latest state government order.
B.L. Desai Posted as Commandant, SRPF Group-5
B.L. Desai, formerly Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Panchmahal-Godhra, has been appointed Commandant, SRPF Group-5, Godhra.
His new posting shifts him from headquarters-related responsibilities within the Panchmahal police administration to direct command of an SRPF group. He will now oversee the reserve police formation based at Godhra.
H.P. Doshi Gets SRPF Group-13 in Rajkot
H.P. Doshi, who was serving as Superintendent of Police at the Police Training Centre, Chowkey, Sorath, Junagadh, has been transferred as Commandant, SRPF Group-13, Rajkot.
The posting brings a change in the nature of his responsibilities. Doshi moves from a police training establishment into an operational command role within the State Reserve Police Force.
L.B. Zala Appointed Commandant, SRPF Group-11
L.B. Zala, formerly Deputy Commissioner of Police, F-Division, Surat City, has been posted as Commandant, SRPF Group-11, Vav, Surat district.
The appointment moves Zala from divisional policing in Surat City to the command structure of the SRPF. He will now take charge of Group-11 at Vav.
Two-Pronged Police Reshuffle Across Gujarat
The latest order brings together two distinct categories of police postings. On one side are four young IPS officers who have been placed in divisional ASP positions, while on the other are six SPS officers being moved into Commandant-level SRPF assignments.
The IPS postings cover Viramgam in Ahmedabad district, Deodar in Vav-Tharad, Khambhalia in Devbhumi Dwarka and Limkheda in Dahod. The assignments give officers from the 2023 and 2024 batches direct exposure to field policing and divisional administration.
The SPS transfers, meanwhile, extend across several parts of Gujarat’s police structure. The officers are moving from traffic policing, district police administration, headquarters duties, police training and existing SRPF responsibilities to Commandant positions in different reserve police groups.
Gujarat Home Department Order Takes Immediate Effect
The Gujarat Home Department has directed that all 10 transfers and postings take effect immediately. The order was issued from Gandhinagar on September 18, 2026, by Principal Secretary Sanjeev Kumar under the authority of the Governor of Gujarat.
The latest reshuffle consequently brings changes at both the divisional and reserve-force levels. Four young IPS officers will now take charge of ASP assignments in different districts and divisions, while six SPS officers will assume command responsibilities in SRPF formations spread across Gujarat.
With the new appointments, the state police administration has redistributed officers across operational policing and reserve-force leadership positions. The order also creates a clear mix of field assignments for recently inducted IPS officers and senior command responsibilities for experienced State Police Service officers.
