Rajasthan Administration to Setup Special Cell for Fast-Tracking ‘181’ Helpline Complaints
In a direct bid to streamline public grievance redressal and improve civic accountability, Rajasthan Local Bodies and Self-Governance Secretary Ravi Jain (IAS: 2004: RJ) has ordered the formation of a dedicated cell to handle complaints received via the state’s Sampark Portal and the 181 helpline.
The decision was announced following a hands-on review where Jain personally tested the efficiency of the helpline machinery and monitored on-the-spot resolutions for civic issues raised by citizens.
Hands-On Review and Immediate Redressal
To evaluate the operational readiness and representative conduct of the helpline, Jain dialed the 181 helpline acting as an ordinary citizen before personally following up on active complaints:
Chittorgarh Sewerage Repair: Responding to a report of sewage overflow on a public road in Chittorgarh, Jain connected with Executive Engineer Jitendra Meena via video conference. He ordered immediate site repairs and mandated before-and-after photo verification to be submitted to headquarters.
Jaipur Transit Compliance: Addressing a complaint by a Jaipur resident regarding public buses skipping designated stops in Goner, Jain directed transport authorities to enforce mandatory stops and monitor route adherence continuously via vehicle GPS tracking.
Strengthening Civic Accountability
The newly announced special cell will act as a centralized monitoring body to ensure that complaints logged on the Sampark Portal do not face administrative delays. By integrating real-time digital verification, direct official oversight, and GPS-based compliance, the initiative aims to build a more transparent and responsive urban governance framework across Rajasthan.
