Competent Authority Approves Premature Repatriation of Shri Sudarshan Bhagat, IOFS, Deputy Secretary in Ministry of Coal, to Parent Cadre on Personal Grounds

In a recent administrative order, the Competent Authority has approved the proposal submitted by the Ministry of Coal for the premature repatriation of Shri Sudarshan Bhagat, Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS, 2012 batch). Shri Bhagat has been serving as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Coal, and his repatriation has been sanctioned on personal grounds.

The order specifies that Shri Bhagat will return to his parent cadre with the provision of an “extended cooling-off” period, a standard administrative mechanism designed to regulate the tenure of officers on central deputation before they can be considered for subsequent postings.

The directive further instructs that Shri Bhagat be relieved of his duties immediately so that he may report back to his cadre without delay. This decision highlights the government’s emphasis on balancing organizational requirements with individual circumstances, while also ensuring adherence to cadre management policies.

Such premature repatriations are part of routine administrative processes that allow officers to avail career opportunities, manage personal considerations, and maintain the overall efficiency of cadre deployment across ministries.
