In a significant bureaucratic overhaul, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on May 16 announced the transfer and posting of 66 officers belonging to the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre. The reshuffle includes 40 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and 26 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, with immediate effect, as per an official notification.

Among those impacted are nine senior officers from Arunachal Pradesh—four IAS and five IPS—who have been reassigned to Delhi.

Prominent among the transferred IAS officers is Krishna Kumar Singh (2012 batch), who served as Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department in Arunachal Pradesh. Others include Lower Dibang Valley DC Soumya Saurav (2014 batch), Capital DC Talo Potom, and Lohit DC Shashwat Saurabh (both 2016 batch), all of whom have also been posted to the national capital.

In exchange, three IAS officers currently posted in Goa—Sneha Suryakang Gitte and Asvin Chandru A (both 2019 batch), and Yashaswini B (2020 batch)—will now serve in Arunachal Pradesh.

The reshuffle also affects senior IPS officers. Sharad Bhaskar Darade (2013 batch), who was serving as Secretary to the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, and Mahesh Kumar Barnwal (2014 batch) have both been transferred to Delhi. Capital SP Rohit Rajbir Singh, SIC SP Anant Mittal (both 2015 batch), and West Siang SP Abhimanyu Poswal (2018 batch) are also among those moved to the national capital.

In return, IPS officers Devesh Kumar Mahla (2012 batch), Surendra Choudhury (2013 batch), and Anurag Dwivedi (2020 batch), all previously posted in Delhi, will now be stationed in Arunachal Pradesh. Additionally, Shivendu Bhusan (2019 batch), formerly posted in Mizoram, has also been assigned to the state.

This large-scale reshuffle reflects the Centre’s continued efforts to strategically deploy officers across Union Territories and northeastern states to strengthen governance and improve administrative effectiveness.
