Bharat Dynamics Appoints 2010-Batch IAS Officer Prakash Rajpurohit as Government Director on Board
2010-batch Rajasthan cadre IAS officer Prakash Rajpurohit has been appointed Part-Time Official Director on the Bharat Dynamics Limited Board, replacing Meera Mohanty. His appointment took effect on September 17, 2026, and will continue until further orders.
A fresh change has been made to the Board of Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), with the Ministry of Defence appointing senior IAS officer Prakash Rajpurohit as a Part-Time Official Director, also described as a Government Director, on the company’s Board.
Rajpurohit, a 2010-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Rajasthan cadre, is currently serving as Joint Secretary (DIP) in the Ministry of Defence, Department of Defence Production. His appointment to the BDL Board was approved by the Ministry of Defence and became effective from September 17, 2026.
He has taken over the Board position previously held by Meera Mohanty, Joint Secretary (P&C). Rajpurohit’s tenure in the new role will continue until further orders from the competent authority.
Prakash Rajpurohit Appointed to Bharat Dynamics Board
The appointment follows the approval of the Competent Authority, which was conveyed by the Department of Defence Production through Office Memorandum No. 8(29)/2026-D(Coord/DDP), dated September 17, 2026.
With the issuance of the order, Rajpurohit formally joins the Board of the defence public sector undertaking in his capacity as a Part-Time Official Director. The position reflects the Ministry of Defence’s administrative representation on the Board of BDL, a company operating in strategically important areas of defence production.
The key details of the appointment are straightforward. Bharat Dynamics Limited has appointed Prakash Rajpurohit as its new Government Director, with effect from September 17, 2026. His tenure has not been assigned a fixed end date and will continue until further orders.

Who Is IAS Officer Prakash Rajpurohit?
Prakash Rajpurohit is a 2010-batch IAS officer belonging to the Rajasthan cadre. An engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, he holds a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering.
He is currently posted as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Department of Defence Production, where his responsibilities place him within the administrative framework dealing with India’s defence manufacturing sector.
His professional profile combines experience in state administration with exposure to economic policy and central government responsibilities. Before moving into his present Ministry of Defence assignment, Rajpurohit served as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance.
During his tenure with the Department of Economic Affairs, he handled matters connected with international investment treaties. That assignment gave him experience in an area involving economic policy and India’s international investment-related engagements.

Rajpurohit Takes Over from Meera Mohanty

Rajpurohit has now been appointed Government Director on the BDL Board, replacing Meera Mohanty, Joint Secretary (P&C). His appointment became effective on September 17, 2026.
On the same date, Mohanty was appointed Government Nominee Director on the Board of MIDHANI, replacing Rajpurohit in that position. Both appointments were made within the administrative framework of the Ministry of Defence and its Department of Defence Production.
For BDL, Rajpurohit’s appointment means that the company’s Board will now have the participation of a senior central government officer who is currently working within the Department of Defence Production itself.

Bharat Dynamics Limited has also disclosed the appointment in accordance with the applicable securities-market requirements.
The company stated that the appointment has been made in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
As part of the disclosure, BDL confirmed that Rajpurohit has not been debarred from holding the office of director by any order of the Securities and Exchange Board of India.
The company also stated that he is not debarred from holding a directorship by an order of any other authority. In addition, no relationship between the directors was disclosed in connection with his appointment to the Board.
