The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has approved the voluntary retirement (VRS) of senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS – Customs and Indirect Taxes) officer B.S. Umesh.
Before stepping down, Mr. Umesh was serving as Assistant Commissioner at the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN).
A Career of Notable Contributions
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Umesh held several important roles. As Assistant Director in the Governance & Operations division, he contributed to multiple strategic initiatives, including asset monetisation, partnerships with the Capacity Building Commission, and the implementation of GRIHA and other sustainability certification frameworks.
His service was marked by a strong focus on institutional development, operational reforms, and capacity-building within the indirect tax administration.
Mr. Umesh’s voluntary retirement brings to a close a distinguished career dedicated to advancing India’s indirect tax ecosystem.
