In a notable administrative move, the central government has prematurely terminated the services of Rameshwar Prasad Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), nearly a month before the scheduled end of his term.

An official order from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) confirmed that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved Gupta’s early exit from the role. A senior bureaucrat from the 1987 Gujarat cadre IAS batch, Gupta had assumed charge at SECI in June 2023 for a two-year tenure, originally set to conclude in June 2025.

No formal reason has been disclosed for this early termination.
