Centre Extends Central Deputation of IAS Officer Sujal Jayantibhai Mayatra Till August 2028
The Union Government has approved the continuation of the central deputation tenure of Shri Sujal Jayantibhai Mayatra, a 2011-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Gujarat cadre, who is currently serving as DCO/DCR with responsibilities covering Gujarat, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
As per an official memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar General of India (RGI) on December 10, 2025, the competent authority has cleared the proposal to extend Shri Mayatra’s deputation beyond its existing term, which was due to conclude on December 31, 2025. Under the revised order, his deputation tenure will now continue until August 20, 2028, or until further orders are issued by the government, whichever occurs earlier.
The extension has been granted under the Central Staffing Scheme, which regulates appointments and deputation tenures of All India Service officers to posts under the Government of India. Such extensions are typically sanctioned to ensure continuity and stability in assignments that involve specialised administrative and technical oversight.
In his current role as DCO/DCR, Shri Sujal Jayantibhai Mayatra is entrusted with overseeing civil registration systems, population data administration, and coordination with the Office of the Registrar General of India across multiple jurisdictions, including Gujarat and the Union Territories of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. His responsibilities involve close coordination with state and UT authorities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting of demographic and civil registration data.
Officials indicated that the decision to extend his central deputation reflects administrative necessity and the importance of retaining experienced officers in roles linked to national data systems and governance frameworks.
The extension order will remain valid until August 20, 2028, or until further directions are issued by the competent authority, in accordance with the provisions of the Central Staffing Scheme.
