Major Upgrade for CISF: Foundation Laid for New ₹75.78 Crore Headquarters and ₹136 Crore Infrastructure Push Lit Up in Delhi

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is getting a massive structural upgrade. In a significant boost to its operational capabilities, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar officially laid the foundation stone for a brand-new, state-of-the-art CISF Headquarters building in New Delhi.

The ceremony was far from just a single groundbreaking event. It also marked the formal inauguration and dedication of multiple major infrastructure projects collectively worth ₹136.03 crore, all tailored to sharpen the force’s training protocols, administrative flow, and personnel welfare. Held at the bustling CGO Complex on Lodhi Road, the event drew a crowd of top-tier officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs alongside leaders from various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

Let us dive straight into what this major financial push means for the force, the technological upgrades on the horizon, and a massive step forward for women empowerment within national security.

Shifting into a Nine-Storey Nerve Centre

The star of the show is undeniably the upcoming CISF Headquarters facility. Spearheaded by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), the nine-storey modern nerve centre is being built at an estimated cost of ₹75.78 crore.

Once the construction crews pack up, this building will serve as the absolute central hub for all strategic, operational, and administrative decision-making for the force. It is being packed with premium features to match the demands of an expanding industrial security landscape, including:

The executive Office of the Director General of the CISF

High-tech control rooms and live operational command units

Modernized conference halls and dedicated meeting facilities

An expansive auditorium and research library

On-site gymnasiums and upgraded staff amenities to keep personnel fit and sharp

Spreading the Infrastructure Wealth to Hyderabad and Tamil Nadu

The upgrade train did not stop in the national capital. The government simultaneously inaugurated several vital projects spaced out across the country to improve training benchmarks and living conditions:

At NISA, Hyderabad: A massive ₹34.22 crore Subordinate Officers’ Mess, appropriately named ‘Aditya’, alongside a highly advanced training building dubbed ‘Abhyas’, built for ₹20.53 crore.

In Sivagangai, Tamil Nadu: Freshly constructed Subordinate Officers’ Quarters at the 4th Reserve Battalion in Amravatipuram, clocking in at ₹5.50 crore.

Families and Social Security Take Centre Stage

The event placed a heavy, genuine focus on the human element behind the uniform. Through a collaborative push involving the SBI and Sanrakshika, significant financial and physical support was distributed:

A hefty ₹1 crore financial assistance payout under the Personal Accident Insurance Scheme was cleared for the families of deceased heroes.

Customized, motorable wheelchairs were handed out to differently-abled dependent children of CISF jawans.

Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar used his platform to reiterate the central government’s deep-rooted commitment to CAPF personnel welfare under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He turned the spotlight onto standard-setting systems already making waves, like the Ayushman CAPF and CAPFIMS for effortless cashless healthcare, the transparent CAPF e-Awas housing portal, a compassionate disability policy, Project MANN for mental health backing, and the Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar network for subsidized financial relief.

Stepping into Tomorrow: Cyber Audits, Drones, and the Blue Economy

Director General of the CISF, Praveer Ranjan, took a moment to address how the very nature of modern warfare and sabotage has drastically changed. The CISF is actively shedding its image as just a physical guard force, fast-tracking its evolution into a highly adaptive, technology-driven security matrix.

The force is rapidly planting its flag in entirely new operational terrains:

Securing the official Recognized Security Organisation (RSO) status to spearhead deep port security audits under the ISPS Code.

Taking on intense security responsibilities in high-risk, high-security correctional facilities tucked inside Jammu & Kashmir.

Broadening defensive umbrellas over India’s critical infrastructure networks and the highly valuable Blue Economy.

To stay ahead of bad actors, the CISF has designated RTC Behror as its official Centre of Excellence focused entirely on perfecting drone and anti-drone defenses. They have also teamed up with elite academic and engineering institutions—including IIT Madras Pravartak, the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), and C-DAC—to roll out heavy-duty cyber security training modules.

A Historic Milestone: The All-Women Battalion

In what is easily one of the most celebrated announcements of the day, the Ministry of Home Affairs gave its official stamp of approval for the creation of the first-ever all-women CISF Reserve Battalion. Set to be stationed at Nuh, Haryana, this landmark unit will bring together 1,024 dedicated female personnel. It stands as a massive, concrete leap forward in scaling up women’s participation in core national security and combat-adjacent leadership roles.

As India creeps closer to the historic 150th anniversary year of Vande Mataram, this multi-million crore investment is a strong reminder that the CISF is staying perfectly synchronized with the nation’s rapid modernization goals.
